Seed oil chips are ubiquitous, as is their taste. On the other hand, chips cooked in lard have no equals. Unfortunately, they can only be found in Southeast Pennsylvania, the part of the east coast where I spent my childhood and adolescence. Adulthood took me to locations far from my favorite snacks. While I never moved back permanently, I was in these parts often enough to begin sampling the assortment of lard cooked chips available here. It was through a process of elimination that I was finally able to determine which chips became my house chips. My visits to the home of Grandma Utz lard chips are now few and far and in between. They had appeared sporadically at random gas stations and bargain stores where I now live but never consistently and certainly not enough to sate my lard chip appetite. What to do? So in this age of enhanced technology, I turned to that ubiquitous end all, the internet. Now when I get an acute hankering for the perfect combination of potatoes, salt and lard, I go online and several days after transacting, I get a twelve pack of that salty delicacy that I crave. Thanks Utz, I love your Grandma Utz Chips!
